Location: South Los Angeles / North Orange County area

We are looking for the Head of Electromagnetic Engineering to play a crucial role in shaping the technology roadmap for the company. This individual will lead and oversee the design, development, and implementation of electromagnetic systems for advanced space technologies, and will provide technical leadership, guide engineering teams, and contribute to the company's growth and success.


  • Oversee the design, analysis, and optimization of electromagnetic systems.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate electromagnetic systems into the overall platform.
  • Drive projects through their life cycle from requirements generation, concept development, detail design, manufacturing, and finally testing and commissioning of hardware.
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise to resolve complex electromagnetic engineering challenges and contribute to critical decision-making.
  • Manage budgets, resource allocation, and project timelines to ensure successful project execution and on-time delivery.
  • Build and manage a high-performing engineering team, fostering collaboration and innovation.
  • Participate, in conversations and interface with external partners.


  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related field.
  • 10+ years in electromagnetic engineering with a focus on Electric motor/generator design and development, with a demonstrated track record of leading and managing engineering teams.
  • Proficiency in a 2D/3D electromagnetic simulation software (e.g., COMSOL, JMag, ANSYS Maxwell, Altair Flux).
  • Thorough understanding of electric motor theory, design principles, modeling techniques, and analysis.
  • Thorough understanding of high voltage insulation system design and testing principles
  • Good understanding of high power variable frequency drive’s working principles.
  • Good understanding of motor control theory and algorithms.
  • Familiarity with single and multi-objective optimization techniques.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, mentor, and guide engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proactive self-starter, capable of multitasking and moving at a quick pace in a startup environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

This is an in-person role.  We are not offering visa sponsorship at this time.

Expected compensation: $109,000 - $200,000 per year + Equity + Benefits. The stated compensation range reflects only the targeted base salary range in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area and excludes additional earnings such as bonus, equity, and benefits.
