We are looking for a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to play a crucial role in shaping the technology roadmap for the company. This individual will lead and oversee the design, development, and implementation of electromagnetic systems for advanced space technologies, and will provide technical leadership, guide engineering teams, and contribute to the company's growth and success.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the design, analysis, and optimization of power conversion systems required to feed electromagnetic systems.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate Power Conversion systems into the overall platform.
- Drive projects through their life cycle from requirements generation, concept development, detail design, manufacturing, and finally testing and commissioning of hardware.
- Provide technical guidance and expertise to resolve complex electrical engineering challenges and contribute to critical decision-making.
- Manage budgets, resource allocation, and project timelines to ensure successful project execution and on-time delivery.
- Build and manage a high-performing engineering team, fostering collaboration and innovation.
- Contribute to the Development of Technology Roadmap
- Participate in conversations and interface with external partners.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- 10+ years experience in developing Power Electronics converters for Electric machines, renewable energy sources, or grid-connected systems with a demonstrated track record of leading and managing engineering teams.
- Proficiency in circuit/system analysis software (e.g., Matlab/Simulink, LTSPACE, PSIM, etc.).
- Thorough understanding of switch-based power conversion theory, design principles, modeling techniques, and analysis.
- Thorough understanding of power electronics switching devices (IGBT, MOSFET, Wide Band Gap devices), magnetics, capacitors, sensors, and all other components required for efficient power conversion.
- Thorough understanding of motor control theory and algorithms.
- Thorough understanding of Digital and Analog circuit board design.
- Good understanding of EMC and EMI mitigation methods including filter design.
- Good understanding of electric motor theory, modeling techniques, and analysis.
- Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, mentor, and guide engineering teams.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
- Proactive self-starter, capable of multitasking and moving at a quick pace in a startup environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Expected compensation: $109,000 - $200,000 per year + Equity + Benefits. The stated compensation range reflects only the targeted base salary range in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area and excludes additional earnings such as bonus, equity, and benefits.
