Position Overview

The Senior Engineer, Wiring - LV Harness supports the Resident Product Engineering organization by independently resolving low-voltage harness product issues affecting vehicles in production, launch, and ramp-up. As a seasoned and fully qualified professional, the role applies broad engineering knowledge and independent judgment to issue triage, containment, root cause investigation, corrective-action development, and effectiveness verification. The position collaborates across Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supplier Quality, Service, Supply Chain, Purchasing, and Program teams to resolve a wide range of technical issues and escalate high-risk or cross-system matters when required.

Key Responsibilities

· Independently lead engineering issue resolution for low-voltage harness systems during current production, launch, ramp-up, and continuous-improvement activities.

· Own engineering triage for production and field concerns, including problem definition, risk assessment, containment, root cause investigation, corrective-action planning, and effectiveness verification.

· Apply broad engineering knowledge, structured problem-solving methods, and independent judgment to resolve a wide range of LV harness issues.

· Provide technical direction during plant escalations related to build, assembly, quality, supplier, and manufacturing disruptions, balancing safety, quality, delivery, cost, manufacturability, and customer impact.

· Coordinate Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality, Supplier Quality, Service, Supply Chain, Purchasing, and Program teams to align ownership, timing, actions, and closure evidence.

· Support launch, ramp-up, and Safe Launch activities by incorporating production learnings into design standards, validation plans, manufacturing requirements, and future-program readiness.

· Analyze engineering and production-quality data, identify technical risks and recurring issues, and recommend practical corrective and preventive actions.

· Maintain accurate issue records, technical documentation, action status, and closure evidence in applicable issue-management systems.

· Contribute to RPE standard work, escalation routines, reporting, and problem-solving improvements.

· Escalate critical, cross-system, or unresolved technical issues with clear evidence, risk assessment, and recommended actions.

Skills

· Seasoned professional knowledge of LV harness routing and packaging, automotive connection systems, and harness components such as clips, coverings, and grommets.

· Strong working knowledge of low-voltage electrical distribution systems and cross-system interfaces within vehicle and manufacturing environments.

· Demonstrated ability to independently resolve a wide range of product issues using containment, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and effectiveness verification.

· Working knowledge of failure-mode and development tools, including DFMEA, DVP&R, DFM, DFA, PFMEA, and Control Plans.

· Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, Safe Launch, VMEA/FMEA, 8D, PPS, or similar quality and structured problem-solving methods.

· Ability to interpret and integrate engineering data, production-quality information, drawings, specifications, and issue evidence to make sound technical recommendations.

· Strong technical communication, documentation, organization, stakeholder coordination, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities independently, provide technical guidance within the assigned scope, and escalate matters based on risk and complexity.

· Experience using Jira, PLM, issue-management systems, or production-quality data tools is preferred.

· Six Sigma certification is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

· 5-8 years of relevant automotive product engineering experience.

· Experience in production, launch, sustaining engineering, resident engineering, electrical distribution, or LV wiring-harness systems.

· Demonstrated experience resolving automotive manufacturing, assembly, quality, supplier, or field issues using structured engineering methods.

· Experience supporting launch, ramp-up, Safe Launch, production escalation, or continuous-improvement activities.

· Experience with BIW manufacturing, closure assembly, mechanisms, enclosures, or related vehicle-system interfaces is preferred.
