Lime is looking for a Senior NPI Engineer specialized in FATP to become part of our NPI & Quality team. Reporting directly to the NPI & Quality director, you will spearhead the industrialization of sophisticated products throughout China and SEA. Your scope covers the entire end-to-end lifecycle, encompassing early-stage design reviews, process planning, mass production scaling, and duplicating lines across multiple sites. In this role, you will serve as a bridge between design and manufacturing, ensuring a reliable, fast, technology-forward, and economical strategy for project deployment.
This is an onsite position that requires onsite presence at our Shenzhen office to maintain effective collaboration across teams.
What You’ll Do:
Design for X (DFX) & Early Engagement: Lead early-stage design reviews and DFX/DFM optimization. Influence EE/ME designers to ensure manufacturability, cost-efficiency, and assembly feasibility for high-complexity products.
Unified NPI & Quality Strategy: Operate within a unified NPI/QE framework to streamline industrialization. Oversee critical process management (CPM, incl. Poka yoke, Torque control, EOL etc) and own the NPI/Quality interface, ensuring rigorous development of flow charts, PFMEA, and standard operating procedures (SOP).
Production Industrialization & Duplication: Manage the production duplication strategy. Oversee production line setup, test & traceability system validation, equipment & jig qualification, and golden sample approval, ensuring consistent quality across multiple sites.
Technical Issue Resolution: Working with Designer/NPI/QE of ME/EE components, lead rigorous failure analysis (FA) and root cause assessments during the PDP (Product Development Process) to resolve ME/EE technical issues, driving effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Aluminum Process Management: Support in qualification and managing critical process for aluminum structural components, including welding, heat treatment and die casting, to ensure process stability and quality compliance.
Validation & Ramp-up: Lead PPAP/PSW sign-off and oversee EVT/DVT builds and MP ramp-up. Prepare critical deliverables and monitor performance metrics (FAI, Cpk, UPH, FPY) to ensure successful transition to mass production.
Firmware (FW) Management: Bridge the discussion between firmware and hardware teams, oversee the firmware flashing and verification processes on the production line, ensuring compatibility, version control, and efficient integration during assembly and testing.
About You:
BS or higher in Engineering or Science.
7+ years of NPI engineering experience, with deep expertise in FATP environments and preferably practical experience in aluminum product industrialization, specifically covering welding, heat treatment and die/LPD/squeeze-castings.
Proven ability to influence design decisions early in the development cycle, identifying structural or process constraints and proposing advanced manufacturing solutions.
Hands-on experience with production line setup, multi-site production duplication, and robust process development.
Strong understanding of NPI milestones (EVT/DVT/MP) and project/quality tools (PPAP, FAI, Cpk, SPC, 8D).
Ability to lead complex root cause analysis in a cross-functional environment (working seamlessly between designer, NPI and QE teams).
Fluent in oral English and Mandarin (if not Chinese nationality), with presentation and influencing skills to collaborate with global cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
For hires based in China, this role requires long-term relocation to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Domestic and international travel is also required to support multi-site industrialization.
Experience in managing firmware (FW) integration and flashing processes in high-volume production environments, with a solid understanding of version control and troubleshooting.
Preferred Experience:
Six Sigma Green Belt training or certification.
Prior experience working or traveling for business within Southeast Asia (SEA).
Prior experience working as ME/EE designer.
