Overview

In this position, you will compose and decompose requirements, map requirements, write tests, run tests, and analyze results from simulation and flight tests. You will work closely with the flight control, certification, flight test, and software verification teams to develop a compelling and comprehensive argument that our aircraft is safe based on the verification and validation of requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute analysis and tests to support algorithm development and certification efforts
  • Plan, coordinate, document, and support efforts among teams to ensure certification activities are performed to the proper level of rigor and independence
  • Trace requirements and develop tools to automate traceability
  • Support documentation of processes and standards that affect modeling and associated software
  • Author changes to algorithm designs, standards, tools, and procedures to enable certification of algorithms and accelerate progress

Required

  • B.S. with 2 years of experience, or M.S. in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, computer science, or a related field
  • Proficiency with software systems used for simulation and testing
  • Attention to detail

Desired

  • B.S. with 5 years of experience, or M.S. with 2 years of experience, in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, computer science, or a related field
  • Experience with requirement-based testing for verification and validation
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink
  • Proficiency with techniques for efficient simulation
  • Proficiency with reducing large volumes of test results into manageable conclusions
  • Familiarity with Monte Carlo analysis
  • Familiarity with safety-critical software testing
  • Familiarity with DO-178 and DO-331
  • Familiarity with digital flight control systems
  • Familiarity with aircraft dynamics

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $65,700-$144,300/year. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
