Primary Job Responsibilities: 

As a Senior CAE Engineer at SOLO AVT, you will be responsible for the structural integrity and certification of the final product and will be providing CAE analysis support to the cross functional engineering teams. This includes testing in simulation and real world scenarios and you are required to be proficient in utilizing the appropriate analysis or testing tools, both digital and physical, to assess the vehicle design against the defined requirements. As the team grows, you may be designated as a subject matter expert and will be asked to provide guidance to junior team members. The ideal candidate works well within a diverse team while also being able to operate independently and deliver projects on time and to specification. This candidate is able to solve complex problems by working up from the engineering fundamentals to develop the best solution, regardless of what others are doing or have done. We can’t change the world by doing it the way everyone else has done it! Finally, while we are an engineering driven company, you will need to be able to effectively communicate with our co-workers and partners in both technical and non-technical capacities.

Job Requirements - Essential Skills

  • Finite Element modeling utilizing Abaqus, LS-Dyna, or other similar software packages
  • Strong expertise in several simulation domains, such as Modal, PSD and ASD analysis, Durability and Fatigue analysis, and Crash and impact analysis in line with government regulations and requirements, in case applicable
  • Strong expertise in linear and non-linear material, geometry and contact definition and simulation
  • Define structural requirements for Heavy Duty truck applications
  • Provide design direction and design support to the engineering and design teams
  • Ability to utilize Mesh tools, Python, MATLAB, etc to support the CAE workflow as needed
  • Strong understanding of automotive/transportation CAE development and physical testing
  • Ability to convey structural guidelines and principles to engineers and designers in other teams
  • Hands-on work is an integral part of being an engineer at SOLO AVT, so familiarity with and a willingness to use basic hand tools is necessary for success.

Desired Skills:

  • Proficient with 3Dexperience (CATIA V6) software
  • Prefer to have experience in both theoretical/academic and practical application of structural development
  • Willing to work flexible hours and passionate about getting jobs done
  • Familiarity with analyzing composite structures


  • BS/MS degree in ME or equivalent
  • 5+ years of professional work experience as a mechanical engineer
  • 3+ years of professional experience in a CAE analysis role

Physical demands: 

We are all hands on deck at SOLO AVT in our efforts to create exciting change within the trucking world. The ideal candidate will be both adventurous and versatile. Daily activities could range from a full day of designing components at your desk, to full days working in the shop building out huge Class 8 trucks, and everything in between. Each day will be an adventure and you should feel comfortable handling moderately sized components within your daily routine.

Travel required : Subject to periodic travel requirements. Company-related travel expenses reimbursed per the company’s Travel and Expense Reimbursement policy.
