AEye is looking for an experienced engineering program manager to manage the development of state-of-the-art lidar systems. The individual will be expected to lead matrixed teams involved in the concept, design, development, and validation of lidars, develop integrated schedules, and drive the execution and launch of the product. 


  • Work with R&D and product management teams to define the schedule for concept designs intended for handoff to engineering
  • Partner closely with product management and engineering teams to technically understand work packages and dependencies (covering firmware, software, hardware and system) and develop fully integrated schedules with a clear understanding of the critical path(s) and resource needs
  • Drive clarity and efficiency in communications across teams and be the catalyst for effective cross-functional collaboration and execution
  • Be hands-on in tracking progress, anticipating, and addressing roadblocks with team members, and facilitate quick resolution on open issues
  • Be the main point of contact to track and manage risks and issues for the overall program
  • Implement appropriate processes for planning, execution, and communication, internally and with customers
  • Ensure required configuration and change management is in place
  • Present regular program status updates to teams, management, and customers 
  • Support the logistics and management of product builds and deliveries
  • Interface with the Operations and Manufacturing teams to ensure product readiness before handoff to manufacturing 
  • Align cross-functional teams across product, engineering, quality and NPI in resolving technical issues, coordinating development releases, validation plans and managing key risks to ensure on-time delivery.

 Key Qualifications (required):

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering, preferably EE
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in program managing engineering programs involving complex electronic or optoelectronic systems, including hardware, firmware and software
  • Very good team player and collaborator with strong interpersonal and intercultural social skills
  • Outstanding English communication skills- spoken, written and presentation
  • Experience successfully managing customers from start to finish of one or more programs
  • Deep knowledge and proven experience in all phases of the product life cycle and in launching successful products
  • Automotive industry experience would be a plus
