AEye, Inc,. is looking for an experienced Compliance Engineer

Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for electromagnetic & Electrostatic, and Laser safety compliance (ex. EMC/EMI, ESD, UL, FCC, ETSI/RED, FDA) for automotive applications as well as other customer-defined applications.
  • Ensuring the ability of the product to pass mechanical compliance (ex. IPC67, shock/vibe) for automotive as well as customer-defined applications.
  • Interfacing with internal groups to ensure all aspects of compliance testing is planned and achieved.
  • Interfacing with external test labs for both preliminary and final compliance testing.
  • Lead laser eye-safety standards and regulatory compliance efforts during development and product launch phases
  • Drive continuous improvement of verification and compliance process
  • Coordinate laser product compliance certification with external 3rd party labs
  • Oversee operation and calibration of laser emission testing and validation equipment
  • Development of EOL testing equipment and stations
  • Manage the development of new SW capabilities on testing equipment to improve accuracy and throughput
  • Monitor testing date and analyze statistical results

 Essential Skills & Experience Requirements (required):

  • Extensive knowledge of laser-related and other regulatory and standards requirements eg. FDA and IEC
  • Hands on experience with various measurement equipment (eg. power meters, photodiodes, integrating spheres)
  • Experience and knowledge in optics and lasers
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems such as ISO9001 or TS16949
  • Failure and root cause analysis experience
  • BSc, preferably MSc + 5 years experience, in EE, Photonics, Optics, Physics or similar

Preferred Skills & Experience (useful):

  • Experience with FMEAs
  • Great oral and written communication skills expected
  • Previous experience as a laser safety officer a plus
