JR Engineer RDD (Research, Development and Design) – Computational Modeling or Thermodynamics

About the Computational Modeling role:

We are looking for a design engineer to join our sensor cleaning system development team. Your primary focus will be to research, develop, and test adaptive cleaning systems that solve one of today’s main challenges in smart mobility – enabling Lidar, cameras and other vision sensors to operate under harsh weather conditions.

As part of our highly multi-functional team, your specialty will be in Computational Modeling applied to sensor cooling.


Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with teammates, consultants, partners to develop advanced concepts for sensor cleaning systems. Develop concepts into detailed designs.
  • Develop computational models and simulation tools to design sensor cooling system parts and inform physical prototype and products.
  • Use computational models for data acquisition, processing, and visualization to predict performance.
  • Develop post processing tools to correlate with experiments.
  • Develop and apply component-level to full-scale application models.
  • Some travel (domestic and international) required.

Qualifications/ Skills/ Experience:

  • BS, MS, or PhD in engineering, science, design, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of industry experience.
  • Experience in applications involving CFD, heat transfer, thermodynamics, conjugate heat transfer.
  • Experience with Multiphysics modeling using COMSOL, Ansys or similar.
  • Heat transfer simulations using commercial software.
  • CFD experience using OpenFoam, Fluent or similar.
  • Proficiency with NX or SolidWorks.
  • Proficiency with data analysis in MATLAB and/or Python.

Preferred:

  • Automotive industry experience.
  • Experience in collaborating with research in universities and national labs.
  • Experience in collaborating with industry-based R&D teams.
  • Experience applying AI for fluid dynamics-related problem solving.
  • Experience with instrumentation for temperature measurement.


About the Thermodynamics role:

We are looking for a design engineer to join our sensors cleaning system development team. Your primary focus will be to research, develop, and test adaptive cleaning systems that solve one of today’s main challenges in smart mobility – enabling Lidar, cameras and other vision sensors to operate under harsh weather conditions.

As part of our highly multi-functional team, your specialty will be in the design and development of thermal solutions for our sensor cleaning system.


Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with teammates, consultants, partners to develop advanced concepts for sensor cleaning systems. Develop concepts into detailed designs.
  • Build performance prototypes for lab and road tests.
  • Design and build validation setups, including data acquisition, processing and visualization in order to verify performance.
  • Design and coordinate thermal solutions from architecture-to-production.
  • Develop design, test and validation requirements based on vehicle, system, and customer requirements.
  • Some travel (domestic and international) required.

Qualifications/ Skills/ Experience:

  • BS, MS, or PhD in engineering, science, design or a related field.
  • 2+ years of industry experience.
  • Design cycle experience - conceptualization, rapid prototyping, testing, detailed design.
  • Proficiency with NX or SolidWorks.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB and Python.
  • Experience in CFD modeling and analysis of thermodynamic design (OpenFoam preferred)

Preferred:

  • Automotive industry thermal design and validation experience
  • Experience in providing thermal solutions constrained by aerodynamics, NVH, and power requirements.
  • Knowledge in EV battery pack thermal performance.
