Located in Northern California, the Joby Aviation team is steadily working toward our goal of creating an affordable, all-electric air transportation system. Imagine an air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly and quickly carries you over the traffic congestion below, giving you back the time that otherwise would have spent sitting in traffic. Since 2009, our team has been making this dream a reality, designing and flight testing a prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We’re looking for talented individuals to join our team as we push onwards toward certifying the aircraft with the Federal Aviation Administration and preparing for commercialization with launch targeted in select markets for 2024. 

Overview

The Joby Aviation go-to-market team is looking for a Manager, Korean Partnerships & Market to help bring Joby’s revolutionary aircraft to market in the Republic of Korea. In this role you will have the unique opportunity to support the development and scaling of a totally new form of daily mobility in one of the world’s most exciting and dynamic countries. You will report directly to the Head of Partnerships & Strategy, while also partnering with the Product, Air Operations, Government Affairs, and other Joby teams to define, plan, and execute go-to-market efforts in the Republic of Korea.

This role requires a leader with a skill set that spans partnership engagement, new product introduction/operations and program management. Success in the role will require a flexible and entrepreneurial mindset that can identify and work alongside local partners to develop and deliver all aspects of the road map for launching an aerial ridesharing service in the Republic of Korea. The person we are looking for will feel comfortable navigating complex challenges and will have the ability to build bridges across teams and functions both internally and externally. The position is located in Santa Cruz, CA and the selected candidate will also spend significant time in Korea as well. 

Responsibilities

  • Immerse yourself in Joby’s technologies and go-to-market plans, and develop strategies for applying those technologies and plans to the Korean market
  • Work alongside local partners to further develop the road map for bringing aerial ridesharing to the Republic of Korea
  • Work cross-functionally within Joby – collaborate with the Product, Operations Government Affairs and other relevant teams to understand the opportunities and challenges associated with launching the aerial ridesharing service in the Republic of Korea
  • Drive, track, and report progress against key initiatives and work streams to deliver on that road map

Required

  • 8+ years in business management, with experience in business development, strategy, partnerships, operations, or other relevant domains
  • Ability to read, write and speak Korean
  • A thorough knowledge of the Korean market, industry participants and business customs
  • A mindset that combines leadership, creativity and execution
  • Experience managing multiple tasks under timelines and shifting priorities
  • Experience cultivating internal and external relationships
  • Strong organization and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Willingness to travel at least 50% of time

Desired

  • Ability to work and travel seamlessly between the Republic of Korea and Joby’s headquarters in California
  • A passion for the emerging Urban Air Mobility market
  • Familiarity with aviation industry regulatory and policy environment
