Why this role is mission critical: 

Skyryse is seeking to simplify the experience of flight, and that begins with a thoughtful and intuitive cockpit experience. As the Display Software Lead, you will be responsible for working alongside an interdisciplinary team of designers, prototypers, certification specialists, and software engineers to bring the next generation of avionics software and pilot interfaces to life. Your work will be both cutting edge, and also developed to the most rigorous standards to ensure it is certifiable by regulatory agencies, and ultimately, to ensure that it is supremely safe to operate. You are someone who can manage a highly rigorous program while also mitigating non-value added cost, paperwork, or aftermath documentation. 

You will be responsible for managing the development of our novel display software and proprietary datasets. You will lead a program through each stage of planning, software requirements specification, software design, and software development per ARINC 661, DO 200B, DO-276B and DO201 standards. You have experience working closely with perception and control law engineers. You have experience in verification and validation of the software per DO178C, DO 331, and DO 330 requirements, and you are comfortable facilitating FAA/DER reviews (SOI-1 to SOI-4). You will be responsible for architecting the FlightOS software system to be certifiable, and will be a key player in creating a safer, smarter flight experience for people all around the world.  

Key Objectives:

  • Lead, design, develop Main Flight Display and Backup Flight Displays software for flight automation working with display system architects leading to certification
  • Lead, develop and implement efficient software engineering processes
  • Lead, develop and maintain the software certification plans and artifacts
  • Lead, develop and conduct Verification, Validation and integration testing of software per DO-178C, DO-331 and DO-330
  • Work with DER and systems group in successful completion of SOI audits
  • Advocate and train the Skyryse teams to follow and contribute to the processes 

Position Requirements:   

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with a minimum of 10 years experience in display software development with 5+ years experience working with FAA in certification of software and systems
  • Working experience in DO200B, DO-276B, OpenGL 2.0 SC, DO-178C and other aerospace regulations/processes/standard, 
  • Experience in design, develop, verify and certify display software using graphic based development system such as Presagis VAPS XT
  • Experience in design, develop, verify and certify display software per ARINC 661 standards
  • Experience with certification of software, systems and subsystems working with DER/FAA
  • Excellent communication/coaching skills 
  • Great attitude to improve processes to serve people
  • Write review and approve system and software requirements and design documents
  • Conduct multi-disciplinary design reviews including PDR, CDR through different phases of development through to production readiness and certification
  • Experience in developing software requirements, design, test and verification documents
  • Experience in developing, writing, and reviewing certification documentation such as software certification plans, compliance reports, and etc. 
  • Self starter with ability to work independently with minimal supervision to influence organization 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Masters or PhD degree in electrical, computer science, mechanical or aerospace engineering discipline
  • 10+ years experience of working on certification project or FAA and/or EASA
